Police officers across four sub-districts in Khulna have been ordered to bolster their personal security and avoid lone night travel following a worrying spike in attacks against law enforcement personnel.
The directive was officially issued on Friday by the District Special Branch (DSB) under the Office of the Superintendent of Police, Khulna. Dispatched under memorandum number 5062, the official communication was sent directly to the Officers-in-Charge (OCs) of Rupsha, Terokhada, Dighalia, and Botiaghata police stations. It mandates immediate implementation of heightened security measures for all officers, particularly those carrying out active drives during ongoing special operations across these regions.
According to the official document, the decision follows a comprehensive evaluation of recent security trends that highlight an increasing frequency of terrorist attacks aimed at security forces. Law enforcement leadership emphasized that the current environment requires strict vigilance to guard against potential ambushes or sudden assaults. Consequently, officers must refrain from solo movements during night shifts or off-duty hours, relying instead on combined patrols and strategic coordination.
The four designated jurisdictions—Rupsha, Terokhada, Dighalia, and Botiaghata—are presently subject to intensive anti-crime operations to curb criminal activities and restore regional order. While field operations naturally expose personnel to heightened operational hazards, the official memorandum did not disclose specific details regarding past attack locations, suspect identities, or the exact targets and seizure outcomes of the ongoing drives.
Station commanders at the four affected outposts bear the immediate responsibility of restructuring field deployments to ensure no officer remains isolated during nocturnal duties. Striking a delicate balance between executing active operations and safeguarding individual officers remains a critical priority for local police leadership as these special security drives continue.
