Madrasa Student Fatally Stabbed in Jatrabari Attack

A pall of gloom has descended upon the Kajla neighbourhood of Jatrabari in the capital following the brutal killing of a teenage madrasa student. The victim, identified as Mohammad Mahim Mia, 15, was a student of the Hifz department at a local madrasa. He was reportedly ambushed and fatally stabbed by a gang of miscreants on Sunday night.

A Lethal Ambush

The incident occurred at approximately 10:00 pm in the ‘School Gali’ area of Kajla. According to eyewitness accounts and statements from his peers, Mahim was on his way to meet an acquaintance when he was intercepted by a group of ten to twelve youths. Without provocation, the assailants allegedly surrounded the teenager and launched a frenzied knife attack before fleeing the scene into the labyrinthine alleys of the neighbourhood.

Mahim’s friend, Raihan, who was aware of his movements that evening, recounted the horror: “He was going to meet a ‘Boro Bhai’ (senior) in the area. These boys blocked his path and stabbed him indiscriminately.”

Medical Response and Fatality

Relatives, including his brother-in-law Rafi, rushed to the scene after being alerted by locals who found Mahim lying in a pool of blood. He was swiftly transported to the emergency department of Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH). Despite the best efforts of the medical staff, the severity of his injuries proved fatal, and he was pronounced dead at approximately 11:15 pm.
