Madrasah Principal Arrested Over Allegations

A principal of an Islamic educational institution in Savar has been arrested by police following allegations of sexually assaulting a student, an incident that has triggered widespread concern over child safety within residential and religious schools.

The accused, identified as Maulana Golam Rabbani, the principal of a local madrasah in the Tetuljhora area of Savar, was taken into custody after a written complaint was lodged by the victim’s family. According to police, the allegation involves the abuse of authority by the head of the institution and the alleged sexual assault of a minor student under his supervision.

Following the complaint, which was filed on Tuesday night at Savar Model Police Station, law enforcement authorities promptly registered a case under Section 9(1) of the Women and Children Repression Prevention Act.
