Authorities in the Amtali Upazila of Barguna district have detained a man following allegations of sexual assault against an orphaned child. The incident occurred in Raibala village, situated within the Kukuya Union. The suspect, identified as 37-year-old Alamgir Moulvi, is the husband of the victim’s maternal aunt.
Incident Overview and Police Response
According to official police reports, the victim had been residing in the same household as her aunt and the suspect, though they maintained separate beds. The alleged assault took place on the morning of Monday, 18 May. It is reported that Alamgir Moulvi approached the child’s bed while they were alone in the house and subjected her to inappropriate physical contact.
