An unidentified group of masked miscreants forcibly entered, vandalised, and looted the corporate office of an internet service provider named “Dot Internet” in the Lalmatia area of Mohammadpur, Dhaka. During the coordinated assault, the attackers actively sought the owner and a business partner of the establishment, whilst physically assaulting the present employees and issuing various forms of life-threatening intimidation before leaving the premises.
The Assistant Commissioner (AC) of the Mohammadpur Zone under the Tejgaon Division of the Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP), Abdullah Al Mamun, confirmed on Wednesday night that a formal criminal case has been registered regarding the targeted intrusion. He stated that dedicated police units are actively working on the ground to precisely identify and arrest the individuals involved in the violent incident.
Investigation of the Incident and Legal Filings
The targeted security breach occurred on Tuesday night at approximately 8:45 pm on the second floor (third storey) of a multi-storey building located in E-Block of the Lalmatia residential area. Following the attack, Sagir Hossain Asif, the Corporate Co-ordinator of Dot Internet, filed a formal first information report (FIR) at the Mohammadpur Police Station, initiating a criminal case against 20 to 25 completely unidentified individuals.
According to the official statements and details recorded in the case statement (ejahar), a group consisting of 20 to 25 people, wearing masks to conceal their identities, forced their way into the operational headquarters. Upon entry, the intruders aggressively demanded the whereabouts of the primary owner of the firm, Pradip Dhali, as well as his business partner and Chief Technology Officer (CTO), Md. Mithu Howlader.
When the company’s Accounts Manager, Md. Ibrahim Howlader, and an on-duty electrician, Md. Jalal, questioned the intruders regarding their identities and the exact reason for their unannounced arrival at the office, the attackers immediately launched a physical assault upon them. The two employees sustained various physical injuries during the random beating and subsequently received primary medical treatment at the Shaheed Suhrawardy Medical College Hospital in Dhaka to address their wounds.
Documented Financial Losses and CCTV Evidence
The official police complaint outlines specific financial losses incurred during the brief occupation of the internet service office. The attackers systematically dismantled and removed core items from the premises, which included:
One Central Processing Unit (CPU) containing essential corporate data.
One high-capacity Wi-Fi router handling network distribution.
One operational mobile phone utilised for company communications.
According to the assessment presented by the firm’s management in the police statement, the total estimated monetary value of the looted equipment and stolen assets stands at 2,23,500 BDT.
In the meantime, a closed-circuit television (CCTV) camera footage documenting the entirety of the targeted intrusion has been leaked and widely circulated across various social media platforms. The recorded visual evidence shows several masked individuals entering the office premises and heading directly toward the dedicated accounts department. The footage captures the precise moment the accounts manager, Ibrahim Howlader, was physically assaulted whilst he was actively conversing with a customer.
The video evidence further demonstrates that after the assault, the attackers forcibly drove the staff out of the operational room, issuing continuous threats and intimidation before fleeing the building. Notably, the CCTV footage reveals that one of the intruders was broadcast-streaming the entire event live via a mobile video call to an unknown third party, keeping them updated throughout the raid.
