Singer, lyricist and composer Muhin Khan is set to return with a new song composed by Murad Noor, marking the reunion of two long-time friends after almost a decade. Titled ‘Chol Ekdin Pakhi Hoi’, the song features lyrics by poet and physician Dr Rukhsana Parvin Surma, with musical arrangement by Mushfiq Litu.
Murad Noor has established himself as a young composer with a distinctive creative identity. Several of his compositions have received appreciation and popularity among listeners on both sides of the Bengal region. Muhin Khan, meanwhile, is an award-winning singer, lyricist and composer known for maintaining his own musical identity rather than following established trends.
The new release brings the two friends together again after a lengthy gap. According to Murad Noor, Muhin previously recorded a song he composed for a mixed album around 10 years ago. Since then, despite their friendship, the two had not worked together on an audio release.
Murad said he was pleased to have another opportunity to create music with his friend after such a long interval. He has also previously composed several songs featuring Surma’s writing, and said those releases received strong appreciation from listeners.
He hopes the new song will receive a similarly positive response.
Muhin Khan was drawn to the lyrics partly because of Surma’s ability to write alongside the demands of her medical profession. He said her professional commitments leave her with limited time, yet she continues to write, and he particularly appreciates the poetic quality and unconventional nature of her word choices.
The song has been developed in a melodic-rock style, according to Muhin. He praised Murad’s treatment of the composition and said his own role was to present the lyrics and melody as accurately and naturally as possible.
The final judgement, he added, belongs to the listeners.
Surma said her professional responsibilities keep her extremely busy, which often makes it difficult to write even when she has the desire to do so. ‘Chol Ekdin Pakhi Hoi’ is one of the poems that Murad Noor had previously composed music for.
She expressed satisfaction with Muhin’s vocal performance and said she hoped the song would appeal to a wide audience.
The collaboration brings together three distinct creative contributions: Surma’s poetic writing, Murad Noor’s composition and Muhin Khan’s vocal interpretation, with Mushfiq Litu handling the arrangement. The combination has given the song a melodic-rock character while retaining the lyrical focus of the original writing.
The song is expected to be released soon through Noor Creations’ YouTube channel and across other digital platforms. For Murad Noor and Muhin Khan, the release represents more than a new musical project. It is also a return to collaboration after years apart, giving the two friends an opportunity to reconnect through music and present a fresh work to their listeners.
