Prime Bank PLC recently hosted a seminar titled “Financial Inclusion: Encouraging and Inspiring Youth in Banking” in collaboration with the Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET) and its Career Club. Conducted under the bank’s flagship educational initiative, PrimeAcademia, the event aimed to foster financial literacy, innovation, and leadership skills among young people, equipping them to contribute to an inclusive economy.
The keynote address was delivered by M. Nazim A. Chowdhury, Deputy Managing Director and Head of Consumer and SME Banking at Prime Bank. He highlighted the pivotal role of artificial intelligence (AI), data-driven decision-making, and technological innovation in modern banking. Chowdhury encouraged students to prepare for careers that integrate technology, creativity, and social purpose, emphasising that such preparation would accelerate inclusive economic growth.
Shaila Abedin, Senior Executive Vice President and Head of Liabilities, spoke on women’s leadership and ethical banking, urging young women to pursue leadership roles within financial institutions. She stressed the importance of value-driven decision-making in building sustainable banking practices.
M. M. Mahbub Hasan, Senior Vice President and Head of Financial Inclusion and School Banking, underscored the significance of early financial education. He explained that introducing banking concepts to young people helps them become financially responsible citizens capable of making prudent economic decisions in the future.
Dr. Ferdous Sarkar, Professor of Industrial and Production Engineering at BUET, emphasised the necessity of close collaboration between academia and industry. By bridging theoretical knowledge and practical economic challenges, educational institutions can better prepare students for career readiness.
