Seven-Year-Old Boy Found Dead in Bogura Paddy Field After Three Days

A tragic discovery has shaken the quiet community of Sonatala in Bogura, where the partially decomposed body of a seven-year-old child was recovered from a paddy field on Wednesday, three days after he mysteriously vanished.

The victim, identified as Yusuf Ali, went missing on the evening of 11 October. Police officers from Sonatala Police Station retrieved the child’s body from a field situated just east of his family’s rented residence in Borobaluya village, following alerts raised by local residents.

According to police records and local sources, Yusuf had a complicated family background. He was the son of Rini Begum, daughter of Mukul Miah from Borobaluya village in Sonatala Upazila, and Polash Miah, hailing from Kamargari village in Bogura Sadar’s Fapor Union. Yusuf was born during their marriage. However, the marital relationship dissolved eighteen months ago after Polash took a second wife. Following the divorce, Rini Begum returned to her paternal home alongside her young son.

Around seven to eight months ago, Rini Begum remarried Uzzal Hossain, a native of Moydanhatta village in the Daridah area of Shibganj Upazila. Following their marriage, the couple relocated to Borobaluya village in Sonatala, renting a house where Yusuf lived with his mother and stepfather.

The child’s sudden disappearance on Sunday evening prompted immediate concern. Uzzal Hossain filed an official general diary (GD) regarding the missing boy at Sonatala Police Station on 12 October. A search was subsequently launched by both the family and local authorities, culminating in the grim discovery in the nearby paddy field on Wednesday afternoon.

Sub-Inspector Jahangir Alam of Sonatala Police Station confirmed that the boy’s parents positively identified the body at the scene. Law enforcement officials have conducted an initial inquest report, and the remains have been sent to the local hospital morgue for an autopsy to determine the precise cause and timing of death. Further police inquiries into the circumstances surrounding the child’s demise are currently under way.
