The Weeknd Makes Live History with Record-Breaking World Tour

Canadian pop sensation The Weeknd has officially cemented his status as a live touring juggernaut, becoming the highest-grossing solo male touring act in music history. Revenue from his monumental After Hours til Dawn stadium tour has shattered expectations by surging past $1.3 billion (£1.02 billion), establishing a new benchmark for individual male performers on the global stage.

The milestone was confirmed by concert promoter Live Nation immediately following the tour’s grand finale in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. By eclipsing the $1.3 billion mark, the singer-songwriter—born Abel Tesfaye—has displaced legendary British musician Sir Elton John, whose multi-year Farewell Yellow Brick Road outing previously held the solo male title with gross receipts exceeding $939 million (£736 million).

The astonishing figures place Tesfaye third on the all-time list of highest-grossing concert tours across all acts. He sits behind only American pop titan Taylor Swift, whose record-shattering The Eras Tour generated over $2 billion, and British rock outfit Coldplay, whose Music of the Spheres World Tour occupies second place after bringing in more than $1.5 billion.

Launched in Philadelphia back in July 2022, the ambitious production expanded into a colossal four-year global odyssey. Spanning five continents, 30 countries, and 67 cities, the tour ultimately encompassed 176 stadium dates and drew an astounding total attendance of more than nine million fans worldwide.

The momentum remained formidable right through to its conclusion. In 2026 alone, the tour generated upwards of $500 million, attracting more than three million concertgoers in its final calendar year. Demand reached unprecedented heights during the closing Asian leg, prompting organizers to expand the itinerary from an initial 11 dates to 17. The expanded schedule featured landmark performances across major hubs such as Bangkok and Hong Kong, where Tesfaye set a personal venue record by staging four consecutive sold-out stadium shows to an estimated 200,000 spectators. The globe-spanning trek drew to a triumphant close on 5 November 2026 at the Bukit Jalil National Stadium in Kuala Lumpur.

Beyond its record-setting commercial achievements, the After Hours til Dawn campaign doubled as a major philanthropic vehicle. Live Nation confirmed that the tour raised $8.5 million (£6.6 million) for the XO Humanitarian Fund and Global Citizen, aiding international efforts to combat world hunger and expand educational opportunities for underprivileged children. The 2026 dates alone contributed $3 million to support the United Nations World Food Programme and related global initiatives, providing a lasting charitable legacy alongside a defining commercial milestone.
