
A devastating incident in Noakhali’s Companiganj Upazila has left the community in shock after 22-year-old Abdul Quader Raju took his own life following a family disagreement with his mother. The tragedy occurred on Monday morning at the newly constructed home of a local chilli trader in Ward No. 5 of Sirajpur Union. Raju was the son of the late Jebel Haque.

Family sources revealed that Raju had been living apart from his wife, who is currently residing at her parental home amid ongoing marital disputes. Ten days ago, she gave birth to their child. Eager to see his newborn, Raju requested photographs via mobile phone. When access was denied, he reportedly became distressed. Later, without informing his mother, he ingested poison in a moment of despair after she and his sister brought the child to see him.
Bimal Karmakar, Officer-in-Charge (Investigation) at Companiganj Police Station, verified the incident. He stated that Raju’s body would be transported to Noakhali General Hospital for a post-mortem examination, and that legal measures would be pursued based on the findings.
