According to local authorities and eyewitness accounts, the incident unfolded at approximately 8:00 AM in the Kochubari Post Office Para area, situated along the major arterial route connecting Panchagarh and Thakurgaon within the Bhulli upazila. A heavy cargo pickup truck, travelling from the capital city of Dhaka towards Panchagarh, was navigating the stretch when disaster struck. Witnesses reported that the vehicle veered out of control, violently smashing into an oncoming motorcycle. Before the driver could regain control of the speeding truck, it veered further into the path of a local battery-powered auto-rickshaw carrying passengers, triggering a catastrophic multiple-vehicle crash that left the smaller transport vehicles completely mangled.

The sheer impact of the collision threw passengers from the auto-rickshaw and the motorcycle onto the hard asphalt, rendering multiple people unconscious with critical injuries. Prompt intervention by local residents and swift response teams from the Fire Service prevented an even higher death toll. Rescuers quickly rushed all seven injured victims to the Thakurgaon 250-Bed General Hospital for urgent medical attention. Despite the best efforts of the attending medical staff, two of the critically wounded succumbed to their injuries while undergoing treatment.

Police identified one of the deceased victims as 45-year-old Anwara Begum, a resident of the Bara Baliya area in Bhulli, who was married to Shahjahan Ali. The identity of the second victim, a man estimated to be around 40 years of age, could not be immediately verified at the hospital, and formal identification procedures remain ongoing.

Swift action by law enforcement officers led to the immediate apprehension of the pickup driver at the scene. The detained driver has been identified as 24-year-old Habibur Rahman, the son of Abdul Hamid, hailing from the Bishkakuri village under the Purbadhala upazila of Netrokona district. He is currently being held in police custody as investigators piece together the exact sequence of events that led to the catastrophe.

Confirming the details of the tragedy, Bhulli Police Station Officer-in-Charge Nure Alam Siddiqui stated that law enforcement personnel responded immediately upon receiving the emergency call. The situation at the highway has since been brought under control, and the wreckage has been cleared to restore normal traffic flow. Legal proceedings are currently underway to ensure that formal charges are filed against the responsible parties, as local communities continue to mourn the latest victims of preventable highway accidents.
