Warfaze Unveils ‘Girgiti’ After Decade-Long Recording Break

Bangladesh’s influential rock band Warfaze has marked a new milestone in its remarkable 42-year musical journey with the release of its latest recorded song, ‘Girgiti’. After a decade-long wait, the band has returned with a fresh composition that reflects its enduring creative spirit and long-standing contribution to the country’s rock music scene.

Written by Shams Mansur Ghani and K M Imranul Haque Ritul, ‘Girgiti’ has been released as part of Upstudio Production House’s upcoming film project. The song has been composed by Shams Mansur Ghani, while Warfaze has taken responsibility for its musical arrangement and performance, bringing the band’s signature rock sound to the track.

The audio-visual presentation of the song was officially released on Monday, 6 July, through the YouTube channel of Loy Records. To mark the occasion, Loy Records organised a special event in the capital, where guests discussed various aspects of the song, including its creative process, production journey and Warfaze’s long-standing influence on the music industry.

For Warfaze fans, ‘Girgiti’ represents more than just a new release. It signals the beginning of another phase in the band’s recording journey following a prolonged gap since 2012. The song showcases the group’s continued dedication to original rock music while maintaining the distinctive identity that has earned it a loyal audience over several generations.

The track is connected with an upcoming film produced by Upstudio Production House. The film is being produced by Hamidul Hasan Nabin and directed by Sourav Kundu. The production house has also handled the visual presentation and overall arrangement of the song, ensuring that its mood and style remain aligned with the atmosphere of the film’s storyline.

Founded in 1984, Warfaze has played a significant role in shaping the development of rock and heavy metal music in Bangladesh. Over the years, the band has released seven albums, including Warfaze, Obak Bhalobasha, Jibondhara, Oshamajik, Alo, Maharaj and Bong Sotto. These albums have gained widespread popularity among listeners in Bangladesh as well as Bengali-speaking audiences abroad.

Alongside its albums, Warfaze has also delivered several successful standalone songs that have become favourites among music lovers. Tracks such as Maya, Alo Dui, Hariye Tomake, Ondho Jibon and Ma have contributed to the band’s lasting popularity. Loy Records has played an important role in releasing several of these works, while the band’s compilation album Pothchola has also received strong appreciation from audiences.

The year 2026 holds special significance for Warfaze. The band celebrated 42 years of musical achievement and received the Ekushey Padak, one of Bangladesh’s highest civilian honours. The group also expanded its cultural presence through a special collaboration with international brand Zippo.

Alongside the release of ‘Girgiti’, Warfaze is preparing to bring three songs from its forthcoming album to listeners. The development has increased anticipation among fans who have been waiting for new material from one of the country’s most celebrated rock bands.
