A tragic road accident claimed the life of a young housewife in Sirajganj on Sunday morning, 15 February 2026. The incident occurred as the victim was returning home after dropping her daughter at a local madrasa.
The deceased, 32-year-old Akhi Khatun, was the wife of Faruk Hossain and a resident of Biyara Ghat village in Sirajganj Sadar. According to OC Md. Shahidul Islam of Sirajganj Sadar Police Station, Akhi Khatun was travelling in a battery-operated auto-rickshaw when she was struck by an SI Paribahan bus heading to Dhaka. The impact was fatal, and she died instantly at the scene in front of Biyara Ghat Eidgah Maidan.
OC Shahidul Islam further explained that following the collision, the bus driver attempted to flee the scene. However, police from Jamuna Setu West Police Station quickly launched an operation and apprehended the driver, identified as Ashraful Islam. Recovery and initial investigation procedures have since commenced.
