After years of declining interest in full-length audio releases, singer Kazi Shuvo is set to return with a new solo digital album, marking another chapter in his long association with Bangladesh’s music industry.
Titled ‘Keu Bujhlo Na’, the album will be released on 28 September by Dhruba Music Station (DMS). It features nine songs, bringing together a range of lyricists, composers and music arrangers in an effort to offer listeners a varied collection rather than a uniform musical experience.
The songs have been written by Tarun Munshi, the late Pagol Hasan, A Mizan, Jisan Khan Shuvo, Salahuddin Shagar, Humayun Kabeer, Arif Hossen Babu, Alamin Sarkar and Hanif Khan.
The compositions come from Tarun Munshi, the late Pagol Hasan, Kazi Shuvo, Jisan Khan Shuvo, Humayun Kabeer, Alamin Sarkar, Ahmed Sajeeb, Adib Kabir and Hanif Khan. Rafi Mohammad, Ahmed Sajeeb and Adib Kabir have worked on the musical arrangements.
The album also includes a duet featuring Kazi Shuvo and singer Badhon Sarker Puja, adding another dimension to the nine-track collection.
For Kazi Shuvo, the release carries particular significance because solo audio albums have become far less common than they were in the past. As the industry has increasingly shifted towards individual song releases and digital-first distribution, the traditional album format has gradually lost its earlier prominence.
Speaking about the project, Shuvo said he was delighted and excited to be releasing another solo album after several years. He also expressed appreciation for the production company for taking the initiative at a challenging time for the audio industry.
He noted that his first solo album also contained nine songs, while ‘Keu Bujhlo Na’ has been designed with the same number of tracks. According to the singer, he has tried to ensure that each song has its own character and musical identity, with the hope that listeners will find the collection satisfying.
Dhruba Guha, head of Dhruba Music Station and a musician, said the organisation was working towards taking Bangla music to audiences beyond Bangladesh. He pointed to the growing dominance of visual content in the entertainment landscape and said the initiative was intended to reconnect younger listeners with the distinctive character, heritage and emotional appeal of Bangla songs.
The release also reflects a broader change in how music is produced and consumed. During the peak of the audio-album era, singers commonly released several songs together as a complete album, allowing listeners to experience a collection built around a particular artist or creative team. The rise of digital platforms has since made individual tracks easier to release and promote, changing the commercial model for artists and production companies.
Against that backdrop, a nine-track solo album represents a relatively substantial commitment. It brings together multiple lyricists and composers while retaining one singer as the central voice of the project.
Kazi Shuvo began his solo-album journey in 2009 with ‘Shada Mata’. He subsequently released five solo albums, including ‘Shada Mata-2’, ‘Shada Mata-3’, ‘Mayar Agun’ and ‘Daga’. ‘Keu Bujhlo Na’ will be his sixth solo album.
The upcoming release therefore marks both a return for Shuvo and an attempt to keep the full-length Bangla audio album format relevant in an increasingly digital and visually driven music market. With nine new tracks and contributions from a broad group of lyricists, composers and arrangers, the album is scheduled to reach listeners on 28 September.
