In a tragic incident in Pirganj, Thakurgaon District, Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) Shahidul Islam of Pirganj Police Station suffered a fatal heart attack during an operation to apprehend a wanted criminal. The unfortunate event occurred around 1:00 a.m. on Monday, 16 February, in Senua village of Bhomradah Union.
Confirming the incident, Officer-in-Charge (OC) Md. Majharul Islam stated that a police team had launched a late-night raid in Senua village to detain a suspect listed under multiple warrants. While arresting the individual and placing him into the police vehicle, ASI Shahidul Islam suddenly experienced severe chest pain. Despite immediate efforts to rush him to Pirganj Upazila Health Complex, he tragically passed away before reaching the hospital.
OC Md. Majharul Islam described Shahidul Islam as a dedicated and vigilant officer, whose loss is a significant blow to the police force. “He had long served at Pirganj Police Station and participated courageously in numerous operations,” the OC added.
Police sources reveal that Shahidul Islam had recently been actively involved in several high-risk operations, particularly in apprehending warrant-listed criminals, earning widespread appreciation for his bravery and careful approach.
