FENI, March 3 – A tragic accident claimed the life of local tea shop owner Md. Nur Karim Khokon (40) in Parshuram yesterday evening. Nur Karim, son of Abul Kalam of Baurpathar village in Parshuram Municipality, ran a tea stall near the Hospital Mor junction, serving the local community for several years.
According to eyewitness accounts and police sources, the incident occurred in the Baurpathar Hanalubagan area of Parshuram Upazila. A man named Abdul Khalek was engaged in cutting down a tree at the roadside. While returning home from his tea stall in the evening, Nur Karim was walking along the road when a partially felled tree suddenly collapsed onto him.
Local residents immediately rushed to the scene and transported Nur Karim to Parshuram Upazila Health Complex. Medical personnel on duty declared him dead upon arrival.
Md. Ashraful Islam, Officer-in-Charge of Parshuram Model Police Station, confirmed that the police had recovered the body and sent it to Feni 250-Bed General Hospital morgue for post-mortem examination. He stated, “Legal action is underway, and a thorough investigation is being conducted.”
An analysis of the sequence of events highlights the connection between the tree-cutting work and the tea shop owner’s movement:
