How the crash unfolded
According to preliminary accounts from police and eyewitnesses, the chain collision began when an empty truck attempted a U-turn on the highway, creating an immediate obstruction on the carriageway.
At that moment, a Dhaka-bound truck carrying potatoes approached at speed and attempted to avoid the turning vehicle. However, before it could successfully manoeuvre, a third truck travelling behind collided violently with it from the rear. The impact left the middle vehicle heavily damaged and stranded across the road.
Moments later, a Dhaka-bound passenger bus approaching from behind reportedly lost control and crashed into the already damaged truck, intensifying the collision and involving all four vehicles in the sequence of impacts.
Casualties and emergency response
Emergency services, supported by local residents, rushed to the scene shortly after the crash. Rescue teams worked to pull injured passengers and drivers from the wreckage before transporting them to nearby hospitals.
Two of the injured were admitted in critical condition to the Shaheed Ziaur Rahman Medical College Hospital in Bogura. The remaining victims are undergoing treatment at various medical facilities across the district. Authorities have not yet released the identities of those injured.
