Education Minister Refutes Claims of SSC Question Paper Leak

The Education Minister, A. N. M. Ehsanul Hoque Milan, has formally dismissed reports concerning the alleged leakage of question papers for the ongoing Secondary School Certificate (SSC) examinations. Terming the allegations “entirely baseless” and “groundless rumours,” the Minister clarified that the integrity of the national examination system remains secure. In a statement issued on the evening of Saturday, 25 April 2026, he also expressed strong disapproval of the National Citizen Party (NCP) for circulating unverified claims, describing their conduct as “reprehensible and deeply disappointing.”

Ministerial Rebuke of the NCP and Rumour-Mongering

Minister Hoque Milan addressed the controversy via his official social media channel, asserting that exhaustive investigations have conclusively proven the absence of any security breach. He was particularly critical of the NCP, a political organisation established in the wake of the 2024 mass uprising, for failing to verify information before making public pronouncements.

The Minister’s statement read:

“It has been proven beyond any doubt that the campaign regarding the alleged question paper leak is merely a rumour. Under such circumstances, the issuance of a statement by the NCP concerning completely groundless propaganda without any form of fact-checking is not only reprehensible but also profoundly disappointing.”

The Ministry of Education has reaffirmed that the examination process is being conducted under stringent protocols. Officials have urged candidates and their legal guardians to ignore speculative reports on digital platforms and to focus exclusively on the remaining examination schedule.

Law Enforcement Breakthrough Against Fraudulent Syndicates

The Minister’s rebuttal coincides with a decisive operation by the Counter Terrorism and Transnational Crime (CTTC) unit of the Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP). During a press briefing held earlier on Saturday afternoon at the DMP Media Centre, Joint Commissioner Munshi Shahabuddin revealed that four individuals had been apprehended in connection with a fraudulent scheme.

The CTTC’s investigation into the organised syndicate uncovered a sophisticated operation designed to exploit the anxieties of examinees. The findings detailed several fraudulent methods:

  • Creation of Deceptive Digital Platforms: The perpetrators established numerous groups and pages on social media and encrypted messaging services, falsely claiming to have access to authentic 2026 SSC question papers.

  • Financial Misappropriation: By luring desperate students and parents, the syndicate extracted substantial sums of money through various mobile financial services.

  • Distribution of Counterfeit Materials: Victims who paid the requested sums were provided with fabricated documents, which were later identified as either modified versions of previous years’ papers or entirely fictitious sets that bore no relation to the actual examination materials.

Enhanced Institutional Security Measures

The 2026 SSC examinations are operating under a “zero-tolerance” policy regarding irregularities. To safeguard the process, the Ministry of Education has introduced several high-level security features:

  1. Digital Tracking: Question paper trunks are monitored via digital tracking systems to ensure they remain sealed until they reach the designated centres.

  2. Magisterial Supervision: The unsealing of question papers is conducted strictly in the presence of executive magistrates and recorded through official documentation.

  3. Surveillance: Enhanced cyber-monitoring is in place to identify and neutralise fraudulent social media activity in real-time.

Educational experts observe that such rumours are typically propagated by cyber-criminals seeking illicit financial gain rather than reflecting actual systemic vulnerabilities. The detention of the four suspects is viewed as a vital deterrent against future attempts to destabilise the education sector.

Minister Hoque Milan concluded his address by warning that the state will take the severest legal action against any party involved in spreading malicious misinformation. He assured the public that the SSC examinations will continue as per the original timetable, with no changes or delays anticipated.
