The arrest took place on Sunday morning near the Sonali Bank premises within the Belabo Bazar region. Thirty-two-year-old Pial hails from Narkelia Namapara village located in the Sullabad Union of Belabo Upazila. He is the son of the late Zahirullah and Mosa. Khadija Begum. According to local reports and police accounts, he had been maintaining a low profile following recent political shifts before being tracked down by investigators.

Police sources confirmed that Pial was formally arrested in connection with a specific case filed at Belabo Police Station on 10 February 2025. The charges against him were registered under sections 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12, and 13 of the Anti-Terrorism Act, incorporating amendments up to 2013. Investigators had maintained active surveillance on various suspects linked to past violence and subversive activities in the region.

Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Belabo Police Station, S. M. Amanullah, verified the arrest, stating that the suspect was taken into custody based on concrete charges outlined in the registered case file. He noted that all formal legal procedures are currently being processed, and the accused will be produced before a competent court within the stipulated legal timeframe.

The arrest has generated considerable discussion across local political and community circles. Over the past few months, law enforcement agencies across Bangladesh have intensified operations to apprehend individuals implicated in pending legal matters and violent incidents stemming from past political unrest.
