The 2025–26 season of the Dhaka Premier Division Cricket League is scheduled to commence on 4 May and conclude on 11 June, with a total of 69 matches set to be played across six designated venues in Dhaka. The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has confirmed that the complete fixture list will be released shortly.
This season introduces several notable structural changes aimed at enhancing competitiveness and streamlining the tournament format. One of the most significant adjustments is the abolition of the Super League stage. Instead, the competition will now be conducted entirely in a single round-robin league format, ensuring that every match carries consistent importance throughout the season.
Initially, the BCB had considered removing the relegation phase altogether. However, following discussions with participating clubs and stakeholders, the decision was reversed. The relegation league has been retained to preserve competitive integrity and maintain intensity among lower-ranked teams. Officials believe this structure will ensure that matches at the bottom of the table remain meaningful until the very end of the tournament.
Under the revised framework, the league stage will comprise 66 matches, while an additional three fixtures will be played under the relegation phase to determine demotion to the lower division. The inclusion of reserve match days has also been introduced, allowing fixtures to be completed within schedule in case of weather disruptions or unforeseen delays.
A further key change this season is the complete exclusion of foreign players. This decision is expected to provide greater opportunities for domestic cricketers to showcase their abilities and strengthen their case for higher-level selection. The BCB has indicated that this move is part of a broader initiative to deepen the local talent pool and improve long-term competitiveness in national cricket.
To support player welfare, match-day arrangements will now include the provision of meals for all participating teams. Additionally, logistical planning has been refined to allow multiple matches per day across the six venues, ensuring efficient use of facilities and time.
The proposed venues include the Bashundhara Sports Complex, Bangladesh Krira Shikkha Protishthan (BKSP), the Cricketers’ Academy ground, and several other approved grounds in the capital. The finalised list of venues and detailed fixtures will be published separately by the BCB.
