Official statistics released by the central bank confirm that expatriates transmitted a total of $1.743 billion through formal banking channels between 1 May and 13 May. At the prevailing exchange rate, this contributes approximately 213.95 billion BDT to the national economy.

Arif Hossain Khan, the spokesperson for Bangladesh Bank, verified the data on Thursday, 14 May. The figures reveal a notable acceleration in the pace of transfers compared to the previous year. During the first thirteen days of May 2025, the total remittance stood at $1.267 billion; the current figures represent a substantial year-on-year increase for the same period.
On a daily basis, the country received an average of $134.1 million during the start of May. This upward trend highlights a significant strengthening of the country’s foreign exchange earnings from the diaspora.
