Worker Killed In Road Collision

A worker employed at the Rooppur Nuclear Power Plant project was killed in a road accident in Ishwardi, Pabna, after a motorcycle struck his bicycle while he was returning home from work.

The accident took place at around 10:00 pm on Saturday, 16 May, at Montri’s Intersection in Shahapur Union of Ishwardi Upazila.

The deceased was identified as Yasin Ali, 52, son of the late Ebad Ali, from New Rooppur village under Pakshi Union. According to local sources, he had been working for a foreign company involved in the Rooppur Nuclear Power Plant project.

Witnesses and local residents said Yasin Ali was travelling home by bicycle after completing his work shift. At the time of the incident, a speeding motorcycle approaching from the opposite direction collided with him with considerable force. The impact threw him onto the highway, leaving him critically injured.

Local residents immediately rescued him and took him to the Ishwardi উপজেলা Health Complex for treatment. However, as his condition deteriorated, doctors referred him to Rajshahi Medical College Hospital for advanced medical care. He died on the way to the hospital, according to local sources.

Two people riding the motorcycle were also seriously injured in the collision. They were admitted to a local hospital for treatment. Their identities were not immediately disclosed.

Police later recovered the body and completed the necessary procedures before handing it over to the family.

Officer-in-Charge Asadur Rahman of Ishwardi Police Station confirmed the incident. He said Yasin Ali had been returning home from work at night when the motorcycle struck him. He added that police recovered the body after receiving information about the accident and later released it to the victim’s family.
