Import and export activities through the Burimari Land Port and Land Customs Station in Patgram Upazila, Lalmonirhat, will remain suspended for eight consecutive days. This suspension of trade operations is due to the upcoming festival of Holy Eid-ul-Adha alongside scheduled weekly holidays.
According to the Burimari Customs Clearing and Forwarding (C&F) Agents Association, all commercial operations will be halted during this period. However, immigration services at the port will remain fully operational for international travellers.
Key Operational Dates and Schedule
With Holy Eid-ul-Adha scheduled to be celebrated on 28 May, the C&F Agents Association has decided to cease import and export activities starting from 25 May, two days prior to the festival. The trade suspension will continue until 1 June. Full commercial activities and regular port operations are scheduled to resume on 2 June.

Administrative Correspondence and Decisions
The C&F Agents Association indicated that the decision to suspend activities was finalised following extensive discussions with local traders and stakeholders. A formal letter detailing the closure, signed by the General Secretary of the association, A.S.M. Niyeaz Nahid, has been dispatched to all relevant administrative and cross-border authorities.
The notification has been forwarded to the Burimari Land Customs Station, the Land Port Authority, the District Administration, the Police Administration, Immigration Authorities, and the Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB). Furthermore, the cross-border counterparts, including authorities at Changrabandha in India and relevant departments in Bhutan, have been formally notified.
Statements from Port and Customs Officials
Farouque Hossain, President of the Burimari C&F Agents Association, confirmed that the eight-day closure was agreed upon after consultations with the trading community ahead of Eid-ul-Adha. He noted that standard operations will commence on 2 June.
Sub-Inspector Saifur Rahman, the Officer-in-Charge of Burimari Land Port Police Immigration, stated that his department has received official correspondence regarding the commercial shutdown. He clarified that despite the trade halt, immigration desks will remain open, ensuring that the movement of passengers holding valid passports and visas continues without interruption.
Additionally, Mahmudul Hasan, the Assistant Director (Traffic) of the Burimari Land Port Authority, confirmed the receipt of the association’s letter regarding the suspension from 25 May to 1 June. Matlebur Rahman, the Assistant Commissioner of the Burimari Land Customs Station, also acknowledged the notification, reiterating that the suspension of business operations is explicitly arranged in observance of Eid-ul-Adha.
