The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) is finalizing preparations for its upcoming board of directors elections, scheduled to take place on 7 June. Friday, 22 May, marked the final deadline for the submission of nomination papers by aspiring candidates. According to official board sources, a total of 33 nomination papers were successfully submitted across three distinct categories. Although 39 nomination papers had initially been purchased by various councilors and representatives, six of those papers were ultimately not submitted before the closure of the deadline.

Regional Breakdown in Category 1
Category 1 encompasses representatives from various districts and divisions across Bangladesh. Initially, 19 nomination papers were purchased by hopeful candidates within this category, but only 14 were formally submitted. A detailed breakdown of the submissions indicates that three nomination papers each were received from the Dhaka, Chittagong, and Khulna divisions. Furthermore, the Barisal division accounted for two submitted nominations. Meanwhile, the Rajshahi, Rangpur, and সিলেট (Sylhet) divisions recorded a single nomination paper each.
Uncontested Victories Formally Aligned
Because the Rajshahi, Rangpur, and Sylhet divisions only received a single nomination paper each, the single candidate from each region is on track to secure a position on the board. Each of these three divisions is allocated exactly one director post on the BCB board.
Rajshahi Division: Mir Shahrul Alam Shimon has submitted his candidacy documents.
Rangpur Division: Mirza Faisal Amin has formally entered his nomination.
Sylhet Division: Saiful Alam Khan Chowdhury (Kajol) has presented his paperwork.
Barring any unforeseen discrepancies or disqualifications during the formal verification and scrutiny process of their submitted documentation, these three individuals are set to be elected as board directors entirely uncontested.
Single Submission for Category 3
A comparable situation has emerged within Category 3, which is designated for former cricketers and various institutional organisations. This specific category is allocated one seat on the governing board of directors. By the end of the deadline on Friday, only one individual had filed nomination documents for this position.
Sirajuddin Mohammad Alamgir is the sole candidate to have submitted his nomination paper for Category 3. He is participating in the Bangladesh Cricket Board electoral process as a nominated councilor representing Chittagong University. Assuming his paperwork meets all the regulatory criteria established by the election commission, he will also secure his directorship without facing an active opponent.
Competitive Outlook for Category 2
In contrast to the uncontested nature of the other categories, Category 2—which represents the premier clubs—presents a highly competitive field. For this category, exactly 18 nomination papers were purchased by prospective candidates, and all 18 papers were formally completed and submitted before the deadline expired.
Among the high-profile individuals contesting the elections within this club-based category is the current BCB President, Tamim Iqbal. Because the number of submitted candidacies matches the intense interest from the club delegates, this segment of the election will proceed through the standard voting protocols as scheduled on 7 June. The election commission will now move forward with the systematic verification of all 33 submitted nominations to confirm the final list of eligible candidates.
