Two men have died from injuries sustained after being attacked by an agitated buffalo at a sacrificial cattle market in the Dewanganj upazila of Jamalpur. The fatalities occurred consecutively over a 24-hour period, with the first victim dying on Sunday evening at the Dewanganj Upazila Health Complex, and the second succumbing to his injuries on Monday night at Jamalpur General Hospital.
The incident took place during the peak trading hours of the Sanandabari sacrificial animal market, located within the Char Amkhawa union of Dewanganj upazila.

According to local residents and police authorities, a livestock trader from Akandapara village had brought a small herd of buffaloes to the Sanandabari market for sale ahead of the upcoming Eid-ul-Adha festival. Upon arrival at the premises, one of the buffaloes unexpectedly became highly agitated and broke loose. The animal charged through the crowded market, causing widespread panic and a subsequent stampede among buyers and traders.
The rampaging animal gored and trampled at least six individuals before it could be contained. Emergency responders transported the critically injured to local medical facilities.

The Officer-in-Charge clarified that police authorities are prepared to initiate a formal investigation and pursue subsequent legal measures immediately upon the receipt of a written statutory complaint.
