Ronaldo Confirms This Will Be His Final World Cup

Cristiano Ronaldo has confirmed that the ongoing FIFA World Cup will be the last of his remarkable international career, bringing an end to months of speculation about his future on football’s biggest stage. As Portugal prepared to face Spain in the Round of 16, the veteran captain made it clear that while retirement from the national team will come eventually, the timing of that decision will remain entirely his own.

“One day I will have to hang up my boots,” he said. “Whatever happens tomorrow, I will leave the pitch having given absolutely everything. Football has given me so much, and I have given everything back to the game. I play because I love football. Without that passion, it would not be possible to keep competing at this level. I have already scored three goals at this World Cup, so I don’t think I am doing too badly.”

Ronaldo has found the net three times in four matches during the tournament. His goal against Uzbekistan made him the first footballer to score in six consecutive World Cups, adding another landmark achievement to an already unparalleled career.
