Laxmipur Madrasah Principal Arrested for Alleged Sexual Assault

A madrasah principal has been arrested and remanded in custody in Laxmipur following allegations of sexually assaulting a young student. Police apprehended the suspect on Sunday night directly from the educational institution, triggering widespread outrage within the local community. The victim’s mother formalised the allegations by filing a criminal case, prompting swift intervention from law enforcement.

The accused has been identified as 45-year-old Maulana Abdul Ahad, who serves as the principal of the Popular Ideal Hifz Madrasah. According to judicial sources, the suspect was presented before the court on Monday afternoon, where the magistrate ordered him to be sent to jail pending further legal proceedings.

The Alleged Incident and Local Response

According to the details provided in the police report and the victim’s family, the incident occurred on Saturday night between 8:00 pm and 9:00 pm. The principal allegedly summoned the 12-year-old student, who was enrolled in the Hifz department of the madrasah, to his private quarters. It was inside this room that the assault took place. Terrified by the ordeal, the young boy managed to escape from the residential institution the following afternoon and fled back to his family home.

Upon reaching safety, the traumatised child broke down in tears and disclosed the details of the assault to his mother. As news of the incident spread rapidly through the neighbourhood, agitated parents and local residents gathered at the madrasah on Sunday night to confront the administration. The crowd detained the principal on the premises until officers from the Chandraganj Police Station arrived at the scene. Police took the suspect into custody and rescued the young boy, transferring him to the station for safety and initial documentation.

Emotional Trauma and Police Investigation

Family members have expressed deep concern over the child’s psychological state. They revealed that the 12-year-old has been severely traumatised by the event, showing signs of acute anxiety, and has flatly refused to return to the madrasah or any similar educational facility. The family has demanded a rigorous, impartial investigation alongside exemplary punishment for the perpetrator to ensure justice is served.

Confirming the arrest, the Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Chandraganj Police Station, Abdur Rob, stated that preliminary enquiries conducted by the police suggested the allegations of assault were credible. Following the initial verification, the police registered a formal case based on the complaint lodged by the boy’s family.

The statutory procedures are now underway, and the principal remains in judicial custody. Law enforcement officials emphasized that a comprehensive investigation is ongoing to uncover all relevant details, and subsequent legal steps will be dictated by the evidence gathered during this process.
