Government Transfers and Posts 14 Senior Bangladesh Police Officers

In a significant administrative reshuffle, the government has ordered the transfer and posting of 14 senior officers within Bangladesh Police, spanning the ranks of Deputy Inspector General (DIG), Additional DIG, and Superintendent of Police (SP).

The Ministry of Home Affairs issued three separate notifications detailing the appointments. Signed by Deputy Secretary Tausif Ahmed upon the order of the President, the directives herald key leadership transitions across regional ranges, metropolitan units, and specialized departments.

Top-tier leadership changes have been instituted in Mymensingh Range and Sylhet Metropolitan Police (SMP). DIG of Mymensingh Range, Md Ataul Kibria, has been reassigned as DIG of the Criminal Investigation Department (CID). Meanwhile, Khulna Metropolitan Police (KMP) Commissioner Mohammad Zahidul Hasan steps into the role of Mymensingh Range DIG.

SMP Commissioner Abdul Kuddus Chowdhury takes over as DIG of Chittagong Range, whilst Sarwar Murshed Shamim, previously DIG at Police Headquarters, assumes leadership as the new SMP Commissioner. Concurrently, the earlier transfer order concerning CID DIG Mia Masud Karim has been officially cancelled.

Promotions and lateral shifts were also announced across specialized units. Anti-Terrorism Unit Superintendent of Police Sharif Uddin Ahmed has been appointed to the Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) as a Supernumerary Additional DIG. Industrial Police Additional DIG Md Kafil Uddin moves to Police Headquarters as Additional DIG (Current Charge).

At the district level, Pabna Superintendent of Police Md Chhufi Ullah transfers to the CID as Special Superintendent of Police, with Anti-Terrorism Unit SP Abu Ashraf replacing him as Pabna’s new police chief.

A series of attachments to regional range headquarters was also outlined in the notifications. Additional DIG of Police Staff College Nasiyan Wazed, SP of Police Headquarters A F M Nizam Uddin, and Special Branch Special SP Tahsin Masruf Hossain Masfi have all been attached to the Rangpur Range.

Furthermore, Rajshahi In-Service Training Centre SP Mohammad Ashikur Rahman moves to the Khulna Range DIG office, CID SP Mir Abu Tauhid joins the Chittagong Range DIG office, and Tourist Police SP Md Apel Mahmud has been posted to the Rajshahi Range DIG office.
