Dollar at Tk 123.36 as Major Currencies See Fresh Rates

Foreign exchange rates remain a daily point of interest for more than 10 million Bangladeshis living and working abroad, as well as for businesses and individuals engaged in international transactions. Remittances sent by expatriate Bangladeshis are a major source of foreign currency for the country, while exchange rates also influence import costs, export earnings, overseas education and medical expenses, travel and a wide range of cross-border financial transactions.

According to the exchange rates provided for Sunday, 26 July 2026, the value of one US dollar was set at Tk 123.36. The euro was valued at Tk 142.80, while the British pound stood at Tk 164.90. These rates are particularly relevant to Bangladeshis living in Europe and the United Kingdom who regularly send money home or conduct financial transactions between Bangladesh and their countries of residence.

Among major Middle Eastern currencies, one Omani rial was valued at Tk 320, while the Bahraini dinar stood at Tk 328.60 and the Kuwaiti dinar at Tk 402.31. The Saudi riyal was quoted at Tk 32.89, the United Arab Emirates dirham at Tk 33.70 and the Qatari riyal at Tk 34.

These currencies are closely watched in Bangladesh because a large number of Bangladeshi migrant workers live and work across the Gulf region. Changes in their exchange rates can affect the taka value of remittances received by families in Bangladesh. Even relatively small movements in exchange rates can influence the amount ultimately received by beneficiaries, depending on the value and timing of the transfer.

In Asia, the Singapore dollar was quoted at Tk 96.39, while the Malaysian ringgit stood at Tk 30.22. The Indian rupee was valued at Tk 1.24 and the Japanese yen at Tk 0.755. One South Korean won was quoted at Tk 0.08388624.

Other major currencies also recorded notable values against the Bangladeshi taka. The Australian dollar stood at Tk 86.40, while the New Zealand dollar was valued at Tk 71.67. The Canadian dollar was quoted at Tk 87.55. Meanwhile, the Swiss franc stood at Tk 147.32 and the South African rand at Tk 7.33.

The impact of exchange rates extends well beyond remittances. Importers may face higher or lower costs when purchasing goods and raw materials from overseas, depending on currency movements. Exporters, meanwhile, may see changes in the taka value of their foreign-currency earnings. Families paying for overseas tuition, medical treatment or travel also need to consider currency fluctuations when calculating their overall expenses.

For businesses, exchange-rate movements can affect pricing, cash-flow planning and the cost of settling international obligations. Individuals exchanging money for personal use may also receive different rates depending on the financial institution, transaction method and applicable charges.

Foreign exchange rates are not fixed. They can change during the day in response to movements in international currency markets, shifts in demand and supply, economic conditions and the policies of central banks. The rates offered by banks and authorised financial institutions may also differ from indicative or quoted market rates.

The figures cited above are the exchange rates provided for 26 July 2026 and should therefore be treated as a reference for that date. Anyone planning to send money, exchange foreign currency or make an international payment should check the latest applicable rate with the relevant bank or authorised financial institution before completing the transaction.
