Police Arrest Three with Yaba Tablets in Rajbari and Faridpur

Law enforcement agencies in Rajbari and Faridpur have detained three individuals, including a husband and wife, in separate anti-narcotics drives and recovered hundreds of illicit Yaba tablets from their possession.

In Rajbari, the District Detective Branch (DB) of police conducted a targeted raid in the Pangsha upazila, resulting in the arrest of a local man named Md Fazlul Haq. Officers seized 800 pieces of Yaba during the operation. According to the police, Fazlul is the son of the late Aziz Munshi from Bashgram area under the upazila’s Yashai union.

Acting on a tip-off, a team led by the DB launched the operation around 5:30 pm on Sunday. A search of the suspect’s bedroom led to the discovery of the contraband concealed within the top drawer of a dressing table. Md Mofizul Islam, the officer-in-charge of the district detective branch, confirmed the details through a press release issued on Monday morning. A formal case has been filed against the suspect under the Narcotics Control Act at the Pangsha Model Police Station, with Sub-Inspector Md Wahidul Hasan serving as the plaintiff.

Meanwhile, a parallel operation in the neighbouring Faridpur district led to the arrest of a couple allegedly involved in retail drug peddling. Officers from the Madhukhali Police Station raided a residential property in the West Arpara village of Arpara union, apprehending 35-year-old Bakel Mollah alias Bappi and his 27-year-old wife, Nurjahan Akter Urmi.

Police stated that the raid took place at approximately 4:00 pm on Sunday following confidential intelligence reports. The couple was caught red-handed while attempting to sell narcotics from their home, with officers recovering 103 pieces of Yaba tablets at the scene. Sub-Inspector Md Masud Hossain led the raiding team, which included Assistant Sub-Inspectors Ashraful Alam, Pramatha Shikder, Shimul Shikder, and female constable Ruma Akter.

Madhukhali Police Station Officer-in-Charge Sukdeb Roy revealed that the primary suspect, Bakel Mollah alias Bappi, already has approximately a dozen prior criminal cases related to drug trafficking registered against him. A fresh case under the Narcotics Control Act has been lodged against both husband and wife. The detained couple was subsequently produced before the Faridpur court on Monday morning.
