Bangladesh Betar Accredits 92 Composers and Music Directors in Major Expansion

In a significant development for the national broadcasting sector, Bangladesh Betar has formally approved the enlistment of 92 individuals as accredited composers and music directors. The official list, released on 27th July, features a notable array of distinguished artists from the Bangladeshi music industry, including vocalists Alam Ara Minu, Mehreen Mahmud, Sania Sultana Liza, Sukanya Majumdar, Sumon Kalyan, and Rajesh Ghosh.

As the state-owned radio network, Bangladesh Betar has long served as a primary custodian of the nation’s musical heritage and performing arts. Enlistment with the broadcaster remains a prestigious benchmark for musicians, granting them formal authorization to compose, arrange, and direct musical works for national radio transmissions. This latest round of accreditation reflects the network’s ongoing commitment to diversifying its creative pool by integrating seasoned performers who also possess extensive expertise in musical composition and sound arrangement.

Among the newly enlisted professionals is renowned artist Alam Ara Minu, who has balanced her performance career with composition and music direction for many years. Welcoming the official recognition, she shared her delight on social media platforms, offering congratulations to her fellow artistes and expressing enthusiasm for her expanded role within the state broadcasting apparatus.

For singer and composer Sajiya Sultana Putul, whose musical career spans over two decades, the accreditation marks a pivotal transition. Having spent nearly fifteen years writing, composing, and arranging her own repertoire, Putul emphasized that this official standing provides a structured platform to produce works for other vocalists under the auspices of Bangladesh Betar. Reflecting on the achievement, she remarked:

“This milestone holds deep personal and professional significance for me. I have been active as a composer and music director for nearly a decade and a half. With the exception of my debut album, I have written, composed, and directed all of my subsequent albums and single releases. Although numerous artistes expressed interest in working together over the years, circumstances did not allow for it. This formal enlistment through Bangladesh Betar provides the ideal opportunity to officially launch this next phase and collaborate with fellow performers. I am genuinely excited about the prospects this brings to my musical journey.”

The inclusion of these 92 practitioners is anticipated to enrich Bangladesh Betar’s archival repertoire and bolster the production quality of state-sponsored musical programming across its national and regional stations.
