Fatal Rear-End Collision on Rajbari-Kushtia Highway Leaves Driver Dead

A tragic road accident occurred early on Tuesday morning along the Rajbari-Kushtia regional highway in the Kalukhali upazila of Rajbari district, claiming the life of a commercial lorry driver.

The victim has been identified as twenty-eight-year-old Md Nazrul Islam, son of Abdul Malek Miah from Bakal village in the Agailjhara upazila of Barishal.

According to local witnesses and law enforcement officials, Nazrul and his assistant were transporting a consignment of cotton tree timber from Gounordi in Barishal towards Kushtia. As their vehicle navigated the regional route near the Paikaramoor area of Kalukhali upazila, disaster struck when one of the lorry’s tyres suddenly burst.

Compelled to halt, Nazrul parked the vehicle on the roadside to carry out urgent repairs. With assistance from bystanders, they retrieved Nazrul’s body and transported him urgently to the local upazila health complex. However, the attending medical officers confirmed that he had already succumbed to his injuries before arrival.

Officer-in-Charge Md Shafiqul Islam of Pangsha Highway Police Station stated that the offending vehicle managed to flee the scene immediately following the collision. Police teams are actively reviewing available leads to identify and apprehend the fleeing vehicle and its driver. Legal procedures regarding the tragic incident are currently underway.
