Colleges Told to Confirm Special Quota Applications by 9pm

Colleges have been given a strict deadline to verify and confirm applications submitted under the Special Quota (SQ) category during the second phase of Class XI admissions for the 2026–27 academic year.

According to a directive issued by the Inter-Education Board Coordination Committee, the relevant colleges must complete the confirmation or approval of SQ applications by 9pm on Thursday, 1 October 2026.

The instruction applies to students who submitted online applications for admission under the Special Quota during the second phase of the Class XI admission process. The concerned colleges have been asked to complete the institutional verification and approval process within the specified timeframe.

A letter containing the instruction was sent to principals and heads of the relevant higher secondary educational institutions on Wednesday, 30 September. The communication sets out the steps colleges must follow to process applications submitted under the SQ category.

Under the directive, college authorities are required to access the institutional login panel of the admission system using their EIIN number and password. Once logged in, they must complete the confirmation or approval of applications submitted by students under the Special Quota.

The authorities have also advised colleges to follow the ‘User Guide for Institution’ available within the admission system when carrying out the process. This is intended to help institutions complete the required steps correctly and within the allotted time.

The deadline is significant for students whose applications have been submitted under the special quota. Although students submit their applications online, the process also requires action from the relevant educational institution. The college must verify and confirm the application through its institutional account before the prescribed stage can be completed.

Colleges warned over missed deadline

The Inter-Education Board Coordination Committee has made clear that colleges must not allow the deadline to pass without completing the required confirmation process.

According to the directive, if a concerned institution fails to confirm and approve the SQ applications within the stipulated period, the board authorities will not be responsible for complications that may arise later as a result of the delay.

The warning places the immediate responsibility on college authorities to review the applications submitted under the Special Quota and complete the required online procedures before the deadline.

For institutions handling SQ applications in the second phase, the process involves logging into the admission system with the institution’s credentials, checking the relevant applications and completing the confirmation or approval procedure. Colleges have been asked to use the prescribed institutional guide if they require assistance with the process.

What students should know

The latest instruction specifically concerns students who applied under the Special Quota during the second phase of Class XI admissions for the 2026–27 academic year. It does not change the original application details outlined in the notice; rather, it sets a deadline for the concerned institutions to complete the next stage of processing.

Students who submitted SQ applications may therefore wish to remain in contact with their respective colleges regarding the status of their applications. The actual institutional confirmation, however, is to be completed by the college authorities through the designated login system.

The instruction comes as the Class XI admission process for the 2026–27 academic year moves through its scheduled online stages. With the deadline set for Thursday evening, colleges handling Special Quota applications have been asked to complete the necessary verification and approval without delay.

The final deadline is 9pm on 1 October 2026. Failure by a concerned college to complete the process within that timeframe could lead to subsequent complications for which the board authorities have said they will not assume responsibility.
