Mohibul Hasan Chowdhury, a close associate of former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, has claimed that the 2024 popular uprising in Bangladesh was supported by certain American NGOs and the Clinton family. Sheikh Hasina was ousted from power during this uprising.
According to Mohibul, since 2018, organisations such as USAID and the International Republican Institute had been actively working against them. He asserted that unrest in the country was instigated according to a detailed plan.
He also stated that the family of former US President Bill Clinton and the current interim government chief, Muhammad Yunus, have maintained a long-standing close relationship. Muhammad Yunus claimed that, due to this relationship, various NGOs received secret funding and actively worked to change the government in Bangladesh.
Mohibul raised questions about the billions of dollars received through USAID, asking where the funds have disappeared. He alleged that the money was used in manoeuvres to change the government. Additionally, Sheikh Hasina had previously accused Yunus of compromising the nation’s interests to the United States. The US authorities have dismissed these allegations as ‘absurd’.
