‘Joy Bangla’ Slogan Sparks Disturbance in NCP March

A young man shouting ‘Joy Bangla’ briefly disrupted a National Citizens’ Party (NCP) torch procession in Narayanganj on Wednesday night. The procession, which started at the central Shahid Minar at 10:00 PM, was organised to protest the Awami League’s proposed lockdown on 13 November.

As the march reached the Bagh-e-Jannat Jame Mosque along Chashara Salimullah Road, the youth’s loud slogan caused confusion among participants. Several members tried to seize him, but he fled into a narrow alley beside the mosque and could not be traced despite a prolonged search.

Present at the procession were senior figures and former leaders from NCP, National Youth Force, Student Power, and the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement. Shawkat Ali, NCP’s South Region Central Organiser, described the incident as unexpected but confirmed that the march ultimately continued without further disturbance: “Although the young man caused a brief scare, the procession was able to proceed peacefully.”
