In Cox’s Bazar, a tourist named Saurav (25) committed suicide by hanging himself in a hotel room while on a video call with his girlfriend. The incident occurred on Thursday, 13 November, at around 6:30 PM in Room 506 of Hotel World Beach, located in Kolatoli, Sagar Kual.
Saurav was a resident of Sylhet Municipality. According to Mohammad Ilias Khan, Officer-in-Charge of Cox’s Bazar Sadar Model Police Station, Saurav took his own life following a dispute with his girlfriend during the video call.
The girlfriend quickly contacted her friends, who, along with hotel staff, broke the door and recovered Saurav’s body hanging inside the room. Preliminary information suggests that Saurav had previously attempted suicide over similar issues.
Mobile phones and other evidence were seized from the scene, and the body has been sent to Cox’s Bazar Sadar Hospital morgue for post-mortem examination.
