Stabbing in Pabna Leaves Young Man Dead, Police Suspect Enmity

A 22-year-old man, Jibon Hossain, was fatally stabbed by unknown assailants in Pabna Sadar Upazila on Friday, 21 November, late at night. The tragic incident occurred around 11:30 pm near the Rajapur Calico Cotton Mill, leaving the local community in shock. Jibon was the son of Md Sujon Hossain of Rajapur village, Dogachi Union, within the same upazila.

According to police and eyewitness reports, Jibon was attacked while alone near the cotton mill. The miscreants stabbed him, leaving him in a critical condition, before fleeing the scene. Neighbouring residents and passersby rushed to his aid and attempted to take him to hospital. Unfortunately, he succumbed to his injuries before receiving medical care.

Abdus Salam, Officer-in-Charge of Pabna Sadar Police Station, confirmed that authorities had visited the scene following reports of the attack. Jibon’s body was recovered and sent to the morgue of Pabna General Hospital for post-mortem examination.

The police indicated that the exact motive behind the killing remains under investigation, though preliminary inquiries suggest it may be linked to a previous enmity. Investigators are actively working to identify and apprehend the perpetrators, and local authorities have urged residents to come forward with any relevant information.

The murder has raised concerns among residents about safety in the area, particularly around industrial zones and isolated locations. Authorities have emphasised the importance of community vigilance and cooperation with law enforcement to prevent further incidents.
