Origin and performance decision
Baraai Kore was not initially intended for Ankon Kumar as a performer. The song was originally developed for music producer Zahid Nirab, who was also expected to provide the vocals. During the creative process, the composition was shaped with Nirab’s musical approach in mind.
However, Zahid Nirab later advised that Ankon himself should perform the song, stating that his voice would better suit the composition. Following this recommendation, Ankon agreed to record the vocals. Around the same period, the production team of director Raihan Rafi was in active discussion with the musicians while filming for Pressure Cooker was underway. The song was subsequently included in the film’s official soundtrack.
Career development and musical focus
Ankon Kumar first gained public attention with the original track Up, released in 2022 through Hathirpool Sessions. This release marked a turning point in his recognition within the contemporary music scene. He later gained further visibility with Long Distance Love, featured in Coke Studio Bangla.
Over a period of approximately three to four years, he has released around five to six original songs, many of which have received positive listener response. Outside his musical career, Ankon Kumar is actively involved in football, where he plays as both a midfielder and striker. His personal interests include reading novels, poetry, and comics, alongside engaging in action-based video games and watching animated films.
Born and raised in Dhaka, he comes from a family with musical involvement, which contributed to his early exposure to music. He is currently working on his first solo album, expected to include four to five original tracks. In addition, a collaborative pop-oriented album is in progress, along with several other projects that remain undisclosed.
