In a major administrative overhaul, the government of Bangladesh has transferred and reassigned twenty-three high-ranking police officials, including Deputy Inspector Generals (DIGs) and Superintendents of Police (SPs). The sweeping changes were officially announced on Wednesday through four separate gazette notifications issued by the Public Security Division of the Ministry of Home Affairs.
The notifications, bearing the signature of Deputy Secretary Towsif Ahmed from the police-1 branch, state that the newly ordered transfers and postings of the Bangladesh Civil Service (Police cadre) officers take effect immediately in the public interest. Routine administrative realignments of this scale are designed to optimize operational efficiency, maintain professional discipline, and address ongoing security demands across various policing units throughout the country.
According to the details released in the official directives, several key regional and specialized positions have been altered. Farida Yasmin, previously serving as an Additional DIG for the Highway Police in Dhaka, has been reassigned as an Additional DIG at the Barishal Range DIG office. Similarly, Mir Moddasser Hossain, also an Additional DIG within the Highway Police, has been transferred to the Bangladesh Police Academy in Sardah, Rajshahi.
The reshuffle extends deeply into leadership roles across specialized wings and district headquarters. Additional DIG (Supernumerary) Mohammad Shahinur Alam Khan of the Highway Police has been moved to the Dhaka Special Branch (SB), while Superintendent of Police Md Rezaul Karim has been transferred to the Armed Police Battalion (APBn). Additional DIG Md Saleh Uddin has moved from the Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) to the Highway Police, alongside other shifts involving the Police Bureau of Investigation (PBI) and various regional command units.
District-level administrations have also experienced significant rotation. Kushtia Superintendent of Police Mohammad Jasim Uddin has been transferred to take charge as the Superintendent of Police in Gazipur, swapping districts with outgoing Gazipur SP Md Sharif Uddin, who joins the Highway Police. Furthermore, Md Amirul Islam from the Sylhet Range DIG office has been appointed as the new SP of Kushtia, while Md Mizanur Rahman Munshi has been shifted from Narayanganj to the Highway Police. Additional shifts saw Md Tajul Islam move from Khulna to the APBn, and Sarker Omar Faruk transition from the Police Staff College in Dhaka to take up the role of Khulna Superintendent of Police.
The remaining changes encompass ten other senior personnel holding the ranks of DIG, Deputy Commissioner (DC), SP, and Special Superintendent of Police, who have been distributed across various metropolitan and specialized branches of the national police force.
