The Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) has finalised its list of candidates for the reserved women’s seats in the 13th National Parliament. The announcement was made on Monday at the party’s central office in Naya Paltan, Dhaka, where the names of the selected candidates were formally disclosed by BNP Senior Joint Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi, who is also described in the party statement as an adviser to the Prime Minister.
According to party sources, the nomination process was conducted through a structured selection procedure involving interviews and scrutiny. Members of the party’s national committee carried out a two-day interview session for aspirants seeking nomination to the reserved seats. These interviews were held at the party chairperson’s office in Gulshan over the preceding Friday and Saturday.
The selection process was overseen by a nomination board chaired by Tarique Rahman, who is the Chairperson of the BNP. Following the completion of interviews and assessments, the board finalised a panel of 36 candidates for the reserved women’s seats.
Party data further indicates that a total of 1,025 nomination forms were sold to prospective candidates. Of these, approximately 900 forms were submitted by aspirants who subsequently participated in the interview process.
