A young man identified as Faruk Hossain was found hanging inside an under-construction seven-storey building in Tongi, Gazipur, in the early hours of Thursday (14 May). Police recovered the body from the premises and sent it for post-mortem examination.
According to law enforcement officials, the incident took place in the Morakun Purbopara area under Tongi East Police Station in Gazipur. The deceased was one of the co-owners of the building and had been residing nearby while overseeing its construction work.
The victim, Faruk Hossain, was the son of Shahabuddin from South Dharmapur village under Fulগাজী Police Station in Feni district. He had been living in Morakun Purbopara for work-related purposes and was closely involved in supervising the construction of the family-owned property.
Police and local sources reported that the building in question, located in front of the Baitullah Jame Mosque in the Gudara Ghat area, is jointly owned by five brothers. Faruk Hossain was one of them. He was regularly seen supervising construction activities from the ground floor.
Preliminary accounts suggest that between approximately 9:30 pm on Wednesday and 4:30 am on Thursday, his body was discovered hanging from a nylon rope tied to the lift wall on the sixth floor of the building. Upon receiving information, police reached the scene and recovered the body.
Authorities from Bangladesh Police confirmed that the body was later sent to Shaheed Tajuddin Ahmad Medical College Hospital morgue for autopsy. The Officer-in-Charge of Tongi East Police Station, Mehedi Hasan, stated that the deceased was one of the five brothers who jointly owned the building. He further confirmed that an investigation is underway to determine the exact circumstances surrounding the incident.
At this stage, police have not issued any definitive conclusion regarding the cause of death. Investigators are examining both the scene and surrounding circumstances as part of standard procedure.
