The explosion, which occurred on Wednesday morning at approximately 10:45 am, created widespread terror among lawyers, court staff, and ordinary citizens seeking justice, though fortunately, no casualties have been reported.
According to local accounts and police reports, the loud blast went off near the judicial building close to the main entrance of the court complex. The force of the explosion sent mud and shattered glass flying across the immediate vicinity, shattering the morning routine and triggering immediate panic. People scattered across the compound as news of the blast spread, raising serious questions regarding security protocols within a high-security zone.
Law enforcement authorities acted swiftly following the incident. Barishal Metropolitan Police (BMP) Commissioner Abu Raihan Mohammad Saleh, alongside senior judges of the court, rushed to the scene to inspect the site personally. Forensic teams from the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) were immediately deployed to gather physical evidence, examine debris, and determine the precise nature and origin of the explosive device used in the attack.
BMP Deputy Commissioner Sushanta Sarkar stated that the CID is conducting a thorough investigation to uncover the motives and identities behind the disruption.
