Coke Studio Bangla Launches Season Four Today

The fourth season of the popular musical franchise Coke Studio Bangla officially launches today with the release of its first track. The premier follows a six-month hiatus, after the platform concluded its third season in November last year with the rendition of Mast Qalandar by the veteran vocalist Runa Laila.

Curation, Themes, and Featured Line-Up

Shayan Chowdhury Arnob returns to steer the franchise as the chief curator for the fourth consecutive season. The new production adheres to its core philosophy of celebrating traditional Bengali culture and heritage folk music, whilst presenting a diverse array of musical genres. This season features performances from a wide range of prominent artists, including Moushumi Akter Salma, Mahatim Shakib, Sunidhi Nayak, Shoeb, Ankan Kumar, and the alternative musical band Meghdol.

Launch Track and International Collaboration

To mark the birth anniversary of Bangladesh’s National Poet, Kazi Nazrul Islam, the fourth season commences with a classical Nazrul Sangeet. The opening track has been arranged by music producer Shuvendu Das Shuvo and features the vocals of the contemporary artist Mahatim Shakib.

Cross-border collaborations remain a pivotal feature of Coke Studio Bangla, bringing together local talent and international artists. Season four includes several overseas performers, notably the popular singer-songwriter Anupam Roy from West Bengal, India. This project marks Roy’s return to the Coke Studio platform after ten years, following his 2015 performance of Lalon Shah’s spiritual song Moner Manush in both Bengali and Hindi on Coke Studio India.

Retrospective of Prior Seasons

Since establishing its presence in Bangladesh in 2022, the musical platform has had a varied operational history. While the initial two seasons were completed smoothly, the third season encountered an unexpected interruption. After the debut of its first three tracks, operations were suspended for over a year before resuming with new content in October last year.

Ultimately, the third season was released in two separate phases and comprised eight songs in total. The most commercially successful tracks from that season, based on digital viewership metrics, are detailed in the table below:

The release of the fourth season today aims to sustain this musical legacy by blending historical regional compositions with modern instrumentation.
