Forensic Teams Summoned Following Fatal Freight Train Accident at Laksam

A horrific railway accident has claimed the life of an unidentified pedestrian at Laksam Railway Junction in Comilla, prompting an immediate forensic investigation. The incident occurred at approximately 7:00 pm on Saturday, 11 July, when the individual was struck down and instantly killed by a passing freight train. The impact caused immediate, catastrophic injuries, leaving local station staff and commuters in profound shock as emergency services scrambled to secure the area.

Mohammad Jasim Uddin Khondakar, the Officer-in-Charge of the Laksam Railway Police Station, confirmed the details of the tragedy. Identification and Investigation Protocols

Because the deceased carried no identification documents or personal effects, the Government Railway Police have hit a legal deadlock. To resolve this, they have formally initiated an emergency protocol:

• Biometric Harvesting: The Police Bureau of Investigation has been formally requested to dispatch a specialised forensic unit to collect fingerprint biometrics directly from the deceased.

• National Database Cross-Reference: The harvested prints will be run through the national national identity card registry to find a biometric match.

• Post-Mortem Verification: Once forensic mapping is completed, the remains will be transferred to the Comilla Medical College Hospital morgue for a mandatory autopsy.
