Salahuddin Ahmed, a Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) leader and former member of parliament for the Dhaka-4 and Dhaka-5 constituencies, has died at the age not specified in the announcement.
He passed away at Evercare Hospital in the capital at 8.10 pm on Tuesday, 13 October. The news was confirmed by his son, Tanvir Ahmed Robin, who serves as member secretary of the BNP’s Dhaka South Metropolitan unit, in a post on social media.
Announcing his father’s death, Robin expressed his grief in a message that began with the Islamic declaration of returning to Allah. He wrote that his father was no longer alive and had returned to his Creator, confirming that he had breathed his last at the hospital at 8.10 pm.
Robin also appealed to people to pray for his father’s soul, asking the Almighty to grant him Jannatul Ferdous, the highest level of paradise in Islamic belief.
The funeral prayer for Salahuddin Ahmed is scheduled to take place after the Zuhr prayer on Wednesday at Lal Mosque in the Shyampur-Kadamtali area of Dhaka, according to his son. The announcement provides the family’s stated arrangements for those wishing to attend the prayer and pay their respects.
In his appeal, Robin wrote: “I request everyone to pray for my father. May Allah, the Lord of the worlds, grant my father Jannatul Ferdous. Ameen.”
Salahuddin Ahmed’s death marks the loss of a figure associated with the BNP and parliamentary politics in Dhaka. His previous representation of the Dhaka-4 and Dhaka-5 constituencies formed a significant part of his public and political profile. The announcement of his death has prompted an appeal from his family for prayers and support during their bereavement.
No further details about the circumstances of his death were provided in the announcement. The family’s immediate focus is on the funeral prayer and seeking prayers for the deceased.
The family has asked relatives, political colleagues, supporters and well-wishers to remember Salahuddin Ahmed in their prayers and seek Allah’s mercy for him.
