Bangladesh football fans could soon see two of the country’s most closely watched players face each other in English domestic football, even before they have the chance to share the same national team shirt.
Bangladesh Football Federation (BFF) is working to bring promising young winger Farhan Ali Wahid into the national set-up, while Hamza Choudhury has established himself as a key figure for Bangladesh after becoming eligible to represent the country. The prospect of the two players eventually lining up together for Bangladesh has generated considerable interest among supporters.
Before that can happen, however, they could find themselves on opposite sides of the pitch.
Leicester City are scheduled to face Fulham Under-21s in an EFL Trophy fixture at the King Power Stadium in England on 22 September. The match is due to begin at midnight Bangladesh time, and it could provide a notable occasion for Bangladeshi football followers if both players are involved.
Hamza is expected to represent Leicester City, while Farhan could feature for Fulham’s Under-21 side. Their potential meeting would add an unusual dimension to the fixture, with two players who may one day become international team-mates instead competing against each other at club level.
The match is also attracting attention because of Farhan’s growing profile. The 19-year-old left winger has been making an impression in Fulham’s youth set-up and is increasingly being viewed as a player with the potential to strengthen Bangladesh’s attacking options in the future.
