Indian Cricketer Rinku Singh to Wed Politician Priya Saroj

Indian international cricketer Rinku Singh and Samajwadi Party Member of Parliament Priya Saroj are officially set to tie the knot on 4 December 2026. According to reports across Indian media, both families have finalised the wedding date and chosen the venue, with the grand ceremony scheduled to take place at the Ramada Hotel in Lucknow. Comprehensive preparations for the high-profile nuptials are already underway.

The couple’s relationship has long generated significant public interest, uniting the distinct spheres of Indian professional sport and state politics. Rinku and Priya formalised their commitment during an intimate engagement ceremony on 8 June 2025 at The Centrum hotel in Lucknow. The event drew an array of prominent figures from both sectors, including Samajwadi Party president Akhilesh Yadav, Dimple Yadav, veteran actor and politician Jaya Bachchan, senior political figures Shivpal Yadav and Ram Gopal Yadav, alongside Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) official Rajiv Shukla and Indian fast bowler Bhuvneshwar Kumar. While the comprehensive guest list for the upcoming wedding remains undisclosed, a notable gathering of sports stars, politicians, and distinguished public figures is anticipated.

The origins of their romance trace back to a chance digital encounter during the COVID-19 pandemic. Rinku previously disclosed in an interview that he first noticed Priya’s photograph on a social media fan page while stationed in Mumbai for the Indian Premier League (IPL). Although immediately drawn to her, he hesitated to initiate contact. The breakthrough arrived when Priya liked several of his social media posts, encouraging Rinku to send a direct message. Regular exchanges soon followed, even during major tournament match days. By 2022, their bond had deepened substantially, evolving into a dedicated four-year relationship that culminated in their engagement last year.

Priya Saroj, born on 23 November 1998, is a practicing lawyer and a prominent young politician representing Uttar Pradesh’s Machhlishahr constituency, a seat reserved for the Scheduled Castes community. She secured her place in the Lok Sabha during the 2024 general elections as a candidate for the Samajwadi Party, quickly establishing herself as a dynamic voice within the political arena.

Born on 12 October 1997 in Aligarh, Uttar Pradesh, Rinku Singh carved out a remarkable path to international cricket. His stellar, match-winning performances for the Kolkata Knight Riders in the IPL—characterised by explosive late-order hitting and composure under pressure—earned him his debut for the national squad. A specialist designated finisher in white-ball cricket, he has thus far represented India in 48 Twenty20 Internationals and two One-Day Internationals, consolidating his status as a key asset for the national team.
