Nationalist Party Youth Activists Ousted Following Violent Assault

This decisive administrative directive followed a violent physical confrontation inside the Narayanganj District Council premises on the afternoon of Thursday, 4 June 2026. The targeted victim of the assault was a senior politician from the same political party, who was ambushed and struck repeatedly following a verbal disagreement during an official commemorative gathering.

Origins of the Argument and Seating Row

The targeted politician has been formally identified as Akil Uddin Bhuiyan, who previously served in an executive capacity as the Joint Convenor of the Siddhirganj Thana unit of the BNP. According to statements provided by multiple eyewitnesses on the scene, the incident unfolded during a multifaceted, day-long public programme organized within the main courtyard of the Narayanganj District Council. The formal gathering had been arranged by party organizers to mark the 45th death anniversary of the founder of the BNP and former President of Bangladesh, Ziaur Rahman. The scheduled itinerary for the day featured a voluntary blood donation drive, a specialized tree exhibition, an outdoor book fair, and a competitive children’s drawing contest.

The initial institutional friction began during the inaugural segment of the ceremony when a verbal dispute erupted between Akil Uddin Bhuiyan and a cluster of junior Juba Dal workers regarding the physical seating and standing arrangements in the front row of the assembly. Although senior political leaders present at the podium intervened immediately and successfully managed to pacify the feuding individuals at that particular juncture, underlying internal tensions remained exceptionally high.

Subsequently, a video recording capturing an exchange prior to the physical assault began circulating across various digital social media platforms. The mobile footage documented Akil Uddin Bhuiyan openly questioning the Member Secretary of the District Juba Dal, Mashiur Rahman Roni, in front of the assembled party workers. In the recording, Bhuiyan was heard pointedly asking Roni what exact political contributions he and his associates had made over the preceding fourteen years of opposition. Witnesses on the ground indicated that the public remark caused visible anger to Mashiur Rahman Roni, sparking deep dissatisfaction among his loyal group of personal followers who viewed the query as an insult.

“Such behavioural misconduct is entirely unacceptable under any circumstances within a public space. We will review all available video footage to properly isolate the remaining perpetrators and initiate necessary legal and administrative action. The BNP is not an organisation of terrorists, and no acts of terror will be tolerated here,” asserted Professor Mamun Mahmud, Administrator of the Narayanganj District Council.

The assailants repeatedly struck the senior politician with punches and closed fists, causing severe lacerations to his lips that resulted in visible bleeding. Akil Uddin Bhuiyan later claimed that while he and Mashiur Rahman Roni had exited the office of the District Council Administrator together in an apparently amicable manner, Roni’s followers intentionally waited downstairs to launch the physical assault.

To preserve institutional order, the organization identified four primary perpetrators belonging to the Ward No. 8 wing of the Enayetnagar Union within Fatullah Thana. The individuals—identified as Mamun, Kawsar, Shri Nitai, and Md Delwar Hossain—were stripped of their titles and primary memberships.

Confirming the disciplinary actions, Member Secretary Mashiur Rahman Roni stated that those who initiated the violence within a public administrative facility had committed a grave wrong.
