The death toll from a severe road traffic accident in the Netrakona district has increased to four following the demise of an easy-bike driver. The driver, identified as 45-year-old Rohan Mia, succumbed to his injuries on the evening of Sunday, 31 May 2026, while undergoing emergency clinical treatment at Mymensingh Medical College Hospital.

Accident Chronology and Fatality Details

The fatal collision occurred at approximately 11:00 BST on Sunday along the Netrakona-Mymensingh Highway in the Challisha area of Netrakona Sadar upazila. The deceased driver, Rohan Mia, was a resident of Kanchanpur village within Sadar upazila and the son of Amiruzzaman.

According to eye-witness accounts and police statements, a passenger bus operated by Mahua Paribahan was travelling from Mymensingh towards Netrakona. Simultaneously, a battery-operated easy-bike was proceeding from Netrakona towards Shyamganj. The bus collided heavily with the easy-bike in the Challisha Buspi area, leaving eight people injured.

Local residents initiated a rescue operation at the scene. One pedestrian, 45-year-old Nurjahan Begum—the wife of Ainul Haque from Amli Keshabpur village in Sadar upazila—died instantly at the site of the impact.

Medical Evacuation and Institutional Response

Following the initial rescue, emergency responders transported Ainul Haque, his two daughters, Smriti Akter and Sumaiya Akter (also known as Iti), alongside another casualty, Mostafizur Rahman (25), to the Netrakona 250-Bed District Hospital.

Upon arrival, attending physicians pronounced both Smriti and Sumaiya dead. The three remaining critically injured individuals received stabilizing first aid before being transferred to Mymensingh Medical College Hospital for specialized care. Rohan Mia later died at the facility, while the remaining two casualties continue to receive treatment for severe injuries.
