NRB Bank, MetLife Renew Eighth-Year Customer Protection Partnership

NRB Bank PLC has renewed its partnership with MetLife Bangladesh for an eighth consecutive year, continuing an arrangement that provides insurance protection and related benefits to eligible credit cardholders.

Under the renewed agreement, eligible NRB Bank credit cardholders will receive insurance coverage intended to help settle outstanding balances on their credit cards if they die or suffer permanent disability. The coverage will apply subject to the terms and conditions of the relevant insurance policy.

The agreement also provides an In-Hospital Cash Benefit for eligible cardholders for each hospitalisation. The benefit is intended to offer financial support during periods of medical treatment and recovery, helping customers manage expenses that may arise while they are admitted to hospital.

The agreement was signed by Tareq Reaz Khan, Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of NRB Bank, and Ala Ahmad, Chief Executive Officer of MetLife Bangladesh, on behalf of their respective organisations. Senior officials from both institutions were present at the signing ceremony.

The latest renewal extends a partnership that has now continued for eight consecutive years. For eligible credit cardholders, the arrangement combines regular banking facilities with insurance protection against certain unexpected circumstances.

The coverage linked to death or permanent disability is designed to address outstanding credit card liabilities when a qualifying event occurs. Subject to the applicable policy provisions, the insurance benefit can help settle the relevant balance, reducing the financial obligation associated with the card in such circumstances.

The In-Hospital Cash Benefit provides a separate form of support. Hospitalisation can place additional financial pressure on individuals and families, even when the main cost of treatment is covered through other means. The cash benefit available under the agreement is intended to provide eligible cardholders with financial assistance for each qualifying hospitalisation, in line with the policy conditions.

The benefits are not unconditional. Eligibility and coverage will depend on the relevant insurance policy, including its provisions on qualifying events and claims. Cardholders will therefore need to meet the applicable requirements to receive the benefits.

The continuation of the partnership keeps these insurance-related facilities available to eligible NRB Bank credit cardholders while maintaining the long-standing collaboration between the bank and MetLife Bangladesh. The eighth consecutive renewal also extends the arrangement through which the two organisations provide customers with additional financial protection linked to credit card services.
